Taylors Swifts take on strong competition

The DCE Soccer Tournament returned for its 11th year this February; an annual indoor soccer tournament run to support the Property Industry Foundation and made up of ten teams from metropolitan Melbourne land development consultancies. The competition was set to be fierce with strong teams from previous years returning to get active, network with others and most importantly, raise funds.

The Taylors Swifts returned with fresh new faces and a fierce new game plan, with their eyes on the prize and their hearts in the game. The 2019 squad was made up of:

– Michael Korfiatis
– Matthew Law
– Raymond Li
– Leonardo Mai
– Harry Nguyen

The tournament took place over five weekly rounds, and the competition was strong from the beginning.

The UDIA Awards for Excellence is a prestigious event on the land development calendar that aims to showcase the finest work of the property industry and encourage the public to learn more about ground-breaking projects underway across the state. This year’s awards were a particularly exciting time for the Taylors team after being shortlisted for the Consultants Excellence Award and seeing several esteemed clients also up for awards.

Through hard work and perseverance, the whole Taylors team contributed to a challenging project worthy of public note. The 2018 AIS Equinox Exhibitions continued their 2018 run visiting the arts and culture capital of Melbourne earlier this month, and Taylors are proud to have once again been exhibiting the latest technology developments and their benefits to the architecture space.

Designed to connect architects, interior designers and design specifiers in a boutique environment, AIS Equinox offers a relaxed networking night different from larger tradeshows or exhibitions. Taking centre stage in this intimate setting, was the Taylors booth, with VR and new augmented reality developments on show for an enthused audience.

The night was well attended, by industry leaders and young professionals keen to know what was new in the technology space with the lure of interactivity drawing many to the Taylors booth. The annual football luncheons are the most anticipated events on the Taylors sporting and social calendars as it gives a chance for directors and clients alike to enjoy a well-deserved afternoon away from the regular working environment and in the midst of the great playing ground, the MCG.

This years UDIA and PCA Footy Lunches were well attended by Taylors delegates and esteemed clients, some of whom had not experienced this opportunity before, but were grateful for the fun day out. The ISV Surveying Expo is the annual expo for the surveyors of Victoria to come together and discuss ideas and challenges currently facing the surveying industry. Demonstrations and exhibitions of the latest spatial technology are also on show, with some of those featured not yet being available to the public market. Taylors young surveyor, Maxim Tyun, had the opportunity to present on the ‘Cadastral Learnings and the changing face of Feature Survey – A Young Surveyors Perspective’ to a reputable audience of surveyors and ISV members.

As part of the New Zealand International Film Festival, the NZ Women in Property committee recently held a movie night screening Kevin Roche: The Quiet Architect. Our Architectural Design Manager Kristen Neri is an active member of the committee and we were proud to showcase some of innovation technology to the audience at such an event.

Held at the Northlands Mall, the main attraction seemed to take place prior to the screening with young architect, Isaac Kawati, hosting a virtual reality demonstration for attendees to experience. Attendees had the opportunity to experience New Zealand’s inaugural project – Hackett Road, Jacks Point – as well as Melbourne reality models of Bourke Street and Hosier Lane.

The 2018 FARO 3D User Conference in Jakarta received an “overwhelming response” from individuals keen to attend and provided the perfect environment for delegates and partners to connect and share knowledge, including Taylors Indonesian representative, Urban Designer, Thomas Smid.

The conference aims to bring together the technology interested community of the Asia Pacific region to “assess the capabilities and uncover the potential of 3D terrestrial laser scanning technology and solutions”. This year’s event did not disappoint, with information on the latest 3D scanning technology and the current developments in Indonesia discussed at length.

The 2018 Exemplar Homes Tour has recently completed its run through Christchurch providing “a rare opportunity for residents to experience high-performing homes that are not normally available to view” and bringing much needed developments in energy efficiency and smart design to the forefront of public attention. Taylors New Zealand representative, Project Architect Jayant Rana, attended the forum event to learn of the latest innovations.

“The event was exploring energy efficient housing and the use of alternate construction methods.” Commented Jayant. A Business New Zealand article states that the message behind this event was to draw attention to New Zealand’s outdated building code and to change a strong mindset that energy efficiency and affordability don’t go hand in hand. “There are simple construction techniques that can be used to achieve energy efficient houses at a comparable price to normal construction methods.”

Hosted by the Property Council Australia, a recent breakfast session with Todd Sampson explored the many ways one could boost brain flexibility and creativity and Taylors attendees were keen to learn the ways.

As members of Property Council Australia, representatives were given the opportunity to learn from one of Australia’s most influential executives, Todd Sampson. Known for being the co-creator of Earth Hour, a thrill seeker, and his appearances on the Gruen Transfer, Body Hack, and Redesign my Brain, this “inspirational and honest presentation” aimed to educate the audience by providing them with “the practical tools, strategies and techniques to improve your brain”.
