Wetlands and Retarding Basin

Taylors have been engaged by Melbourne Water to complete a pilot study which involves the surveying of wetlands, sediment ponds and retarding basins. Taylors are testing the use of a remotely controlled hydrographic survey vessel for the purpose of this pilot. The remotely controlled vessel is capable of completing survey grade bathymetric surveys by integrating a depth sounder, GPS and radio modem data transmission system. The data will be used to generate contour maps and calculate areas and volumes of sediment. The project aims to track and report on sediment build up by comparing data sets collected over a period of time.
